"I Need To Say Good-Bye!"

Hello Ming Li..

I hope that you are listening.
Up there on the Rainbow Bridge plain.
You may not want to listen, but
I am asking for just a minute to explain.

Please give me a chance to say what
it is I need to say.

Ming-E I need for you to know something,
if you have a minute or two to spare.
You need to know that without you my
heart hurts and feels so lonely and bare.

You might not have known, but I was not
sure I could ever love another little
furry family member.

You see in a short span of time, I
had to send another of my beloved
companions to that beautiful place
up there. But knowing that it is
beautiful and serene, does not make
the pain any easier to bare.

But then you came along and stole
my heart with your funny little face
and furry curled up tail.

You filled that empty place with
love and laughter. Feelings I did
not think I could re-capture.

By the way is Chip and Cheuie with
you up there? Please both you
and Chueie listen to the Old Man,
he can tell you and help you to
understand the depth of my love for
you all. You see with-out you here
with me, the tear drops continue to fall.

I have wanted to write this to you,
and Chueie both, to help you to
understand. But my heart and soul
would not allow me to let you go.

But my dear Ming-E I need you to
know that it was not because I did
not love you. It was because I
loved you so, that I had to let
let you go.

You are in the eyes of outsiders
considered a dangerous animal.

They could not see the kindness,
love, and the funny little girl
that we knew..

You were just another dangerous
Chow Chow. That turned on
their masters too.

It has taken me awhile to come to
terms with it. I know that you were
only doing what you thought was right.

You were my protector and my companion.
It was you that made my days not so
longYou made them but both funny
and bright.

I knew you loved all the kids.
Even though you were not sure of them.
I knew you would come to me when
you felt afraid.

For then it was you that looked
to me for protection, comfort and
guidance. To do what was right and
expected in our home.

I knew that you did not understand
the new person here in our home.
I tried to make you see that
no matter what you were loved.
And I would always be there.

But I failed!

And you did what you felt you had
to do. And I must live with that.

I will close now Ming-E I have your
pictures and a life-time of memories
to hold on to.

I have placed them next to Chueies,
and I know I will see you again some
day. It is my prayer and sincere wish
that you and Chueie will have forgiven
me by then.
