Maybe We Have Forgotten

I hear people saying we don't need this war
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
They took all the footage off my T.V.
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
I've been there with the soldiers
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Have you forgotten?
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

Yes, some went down like heroes in that
Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout
Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Freedom Is Not Free

I watched a flag pass by one day,
I heard the sound of taps one night,
This is a new story I have added.
"Hi folks, I am enclosing a little poem I
So....I felt so strongly about the protests that
I shared this with a few friends and family.

I read in the news, how you made a stand,
Marching against Marines, like me, here,
You call yourselves experts on what we should
Were you at the funerals as they lowered the
I so, want to feel the comforts of my home,
Do not despise me for what I do, because
What is the price, for the life you live?
It is men like me, and others too, doing
I am not bitter, this is the life I choose,
When this is over, when we are through, I
Lets keep prayers for all the troops
We know what it is like to live in a

It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Airman saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.
I thought how many men like him,
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil,
How many mothers' tear.
How many pilots' plane shot down,
How many died at sea.
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves,
No,.. freedom is not free.
When everything was still.
I listenedd to the bugler play,
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times,
That taps had meant, "Amen."
When a flag covered a coffin,
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of mothers and the wives.
Of fathers, sons, and husbands,
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard,
At the bottom of the sea.
Of unmarked graves at Arlington,
No,.. freedom is not free.

It is very sobering..

(MSgt Dial B. F.).wrote. I wrote this shortly
after arriving here in the Persian Gulf, in
support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. We had
been getting sporadic news from the states
and it seemed most of what we were getting was
about people protesting against the military
being here. Most can tell you that I am very
passionate about what I do as a U. S. Marine.
I sat down and wrote a little something that
expresses my feelings on the matter from the
Marine side of the coin.
I have become really surprised and humbled at
the reactions I have received on this. My wife,
Shellie told me many had requested it, so, I am
sending my poem, titled "The Stand" to you.
I hope you enjoy it. God's Peace. Billy "

you marched in the streets of our country's
land, trying to say who is wrong or right,
telling our country they should not fight;
defending the rights you hold so dear, assuming
I love to kill and maim, acting like this is
some sort of game;

do, on September eleventh, where were you,
while thousands of Americans suffered and died,
are you trying to say this is something you
can abide?
caskets, maybe you should remove your rose
colored glasses?
where recently I left my family alone, yet
I'll do my duty in this far off land, so you
can march on Washington and make your stand;

truth be known, I do it for you, to hopefully
free you from terror's arm, so you can have
your freedoms, free from harm;
What is the payment you have to give?
Is it starring in a movie, or singing a good
song, that has kept you free for all this long?
what our country calls us to do, sailing the
seas to this far off land, while you stay
at home and make your stand;

so the rights you express so freely, you will
not lose. You may not support me for what
I do, but you need to know, I dd it for you;
would rather you just say, thank you, for
giving you, the time you had, to march in our
streets and make your stand.

over there fighting to liberate people
who have lived under a dictator for decades.
country where we have so many freedoms.
But let us not forget how we got them.
It was not free, someone paid the price.

If Everyone could sign the prayer book,
to our troops, I will see to it that it
get to them .. God Bless American, the U.K.
and Aussie.. We will Never!! Forget!!
